I started drawing before I could speak, being an artist was just something I was, being one now is not much of a choice for me. I am self taught in drawing and painting and discovered a love for sculpting while attending college. Every job or career I've had since has been based in some form of art, design, painting, drawing, or sculpting, usually behind the scenes. I have sculpted professionally for the last 13 years and just started to produce my own work for others to see.
I decided to create a style of work that blurred the lines between photography, painting and sculpting. I chose mosaics because of the tension I could create between the sculpted and cast pixels and the overall image they created. The hope was to create a conversation for the viewer , a conversation about the relationship, good or bad, subject verses theme, and so on. I want people to talk about what these pieces mean to them, how their own experiences make sense of the choices I made when creating the work.
